Musical Theatre Camp

Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favourite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical, a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and danger, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. The powers of friendship, loyalty and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
In this creative and exciting one-week camp, budding performers will benefit from the exciting diversity of daily workshops in singing, dancing and acting, provided by theatre and teaching professionals. They will also have the opportunity to put their mark on the performance through the creation of production crafts, the building of confidence and in honing their dramatic skills! Laughter and applause are guaranteed as the performers showcase their talents in their final performance at Theatre Aurora at 4pm on the final day of camp.

Theatre Camp
Ages 8 and up
Featuring...Pippi Longstocking
Pippi is the high-spirited, warm-hearted incarnation of every child's dream of freedom and power. No school, no parents, no bedtime or rules! Pippi is on her own to live as she pleases at Villekulla Cottage with her horse and pet monkey. She then befriends her neighbours Tommy and Annika and then the everyday becomes amazing for everyone as the trio sets off on a rollicking adventure to meet up with her pirate Father. When Pippi is not dancing with burglars, she may be at the circus fighting the strongest man in the world or playing tag with policemen! This uproariously funny play with music starring the world's most popular 'enfant terrible' is sure to have audiences in stitches and on their feet!
Taught in a fun and creative atmosphere by theatre and teaching professionals, participants will be led step by step through the rehearsal and performance process where they will have the opportunity to hone their performance skills as well as gain confidence and an enriched understanding of teamwork. All actors will receive a speaking role and all levels of acting ability are welcome. Performers will showcase their talents in a full-scale production to be held at Theatre Aurora at 7pm on the final day of camp.
