Year Round Production Programs for 8 to 18 year olds
These 25 week theatre programs begin in the fall of each year and run through until the spring of the next year, ending in a full-scale production at a local theatre. No previous experience is necessary. All costumes and materials are provided.
Kids Get Staged
This lively, exciting and instructional year-round theatre production program will educate and challenge young people with an interest in the performing arts. Participants will learn and hone many acting techniques as they work on character development, scene study and thematic analysis in preparation for their final performance. At the same time, participants will develop new and significant relationships as we collaborate to develop a cohesive theatrical ensemble.
We are thrilled to announce this year’s project, The Secret Garden, based on Frances Hodgson Burnett's most popular and endearing classic. This joyous story about the growth and blossoming of the earth and the human spirit is a garden of delight for the ears and the imagination. Mary and Colin, whose natures have been badly warped, thrive with the discovery that selflessness opens a secret door to happiness. They are encouraged by the warmhearted Yorkshire maid, Martha, and her brother, Dickon, who understands the language of birds, animals and flowers; the crusty gardener, Ben Weatherstaff; and, of course, the robin who leads Mary to the garden that changes her life.
Acting, comedy, drama, song and dance are all part of the training the young actors will receive from our professional staff of directors, choreographers and voice instructors in preparation for their final performances of their full-scale production - including professionally designed and built sets, props and costumes - at a local theatre in the Spring of 2021.
In order to keep our class sizes low, we will be offering three classes of Kids Get Staged for our 2020/2021 Season.
Thursdays 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Show Time for Teens
This dynamic, creative and instructional year-round theatre program will educate and challenge High School students with an interest in the performing arts. Participants will learn and hone many acting techniques as they work on character development, scene study and thematic analysis in preparation for their performance, which will be determined in the first few weeks of the program. Past performances include: The Drowsy Chaperone, The Pink Panther, Alice in Wonderland, Clue, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, Marx Brothers Plays, You Can’t Take It With You and many others. We also encourage the actors to showcase their other talents by getting involved in the design and creation of the production and creative elements; sets, lighting, sound, costuming, music and choreography. The final production is sure to be a tremendous and brilliant collaboration of our young, local talent.
